FREE TTC

A Future Forward

Lyall Sanders has proposed making the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) free to help reduce the cost of living for residents and make public transportation accessible to everyone. As transit fares continue to rise, many people in Toronto struggle with daily commuting expenses. Sanders believes that removing fares would make it easier for workers, students, and families to move around the city without financial stress.

A free TTC system could also encourage more people to choose public transit instead of driving. This would help reduce traffic congestion, lower pollution, and create a more environmentally friendly city. By increasing ridership, the transit system would become a stronger part of Toronto’s infrastructure and economy.

Sanders also believes that making the TTC free would support young people and lower-income residents who rely on public transportation the most. Easier access to transit can help people reach jobs, education, and services across the city.

Overall, Lyall Sanders’ proposal to make the TTC free is part of his broader vision to create a more affordable, accessible, and connected Toronto for everyone.
